Necromunda 20th

It turns out it's the 20th anniversary of Necromunda, so that seems a suitable excuse to show some of my figures from that period.

I only ever played a couple of games of Necromunda, but I do have fond memories of it. It would be nice if GW re-released it (and Mordheim), rather than new "limited edition" games, but I'm not holding my breath.

These were some of the first figures I painted after a hobby break of a few years. It wasn't an intentional break, but happened when I was studying with the Open University. I didn't have much free time and wasn't enjoying the figures I was painting at the time. This was a bad combination and led to me finding more and more excuses not to paint. Before long I didn't even bother coming up with excuses.

Eventually, however, the muse returned and I picked up the brush again. That break, however, is the excuse I'm using for the somewhat flat colours on the figures below. The brushwork is okay, but they just seem quite muddy overall.

Anyway, enough waffling.

This is actually a plastic figure, not part of the original box set. No idea where/when I got him.

I have a few other miscellaneous figures from that period, but I wasn't sure which ones were Necromundian. The only one I'm certain about is the Rat Ogre, shown below. I have the dismounted rider as well, but couldn't find him.

  1. I don't remem the rest ogre. Awesome figure, and pretty good paint job.

    1. Back in the days when White Dwarf used to list new figures with ten or fifteen to a page, the Rat Ogre appeared off to the side, almost as an afterthought. Not sure why it was never more prominent.
