Finished Hasslefree Hazmat Figures

Continuing my current theme of finished Hasslefree figures, this time it's the turn of their Hazmat models.

I have a couple of plans for these figures, which meant that I didn't want to tie them to a single background in terms of painting or basing. They will be of use in zombie apocalypse type games, but I also plan to use them in science fiction games, where their suits will be suitable (sorry) for actions in vacuum or poisonous atmospheres.

Basing-wise, therefore, I chose to use the same bases I've been using for my SF figures, rather than post apoc. pavement bases. My reasoning is that the SF bases have an industrial look to them, so for post apoc. duty they could be patrolling a factory zone (note that it is just possible that I overthink these things :-))

Painting was nothing terribly exciting. The only issue I hit was with Citadel's new(ish) Nuln Oil wash. I hadn't used it before, so this group seemed as good as any to test it on (and save me using any of my stash of Badab Black). The wash itself was okay, but it dried white in quite a few areas and meant I had to repaint some bits. I have no idea why it did this, but I'm working on the assumption that I didn't shake the pot for long enough (or that I had a bad pot). I'm going to experiment on some spare figures, but if this is some sort of reaction with Vallejo paints I will not be a happy painter.

You may notice an extra figure in the group shot below. It will be covered in a future post, but as a teaser, have a look at the Bin Bot Collectibles on the Bin Weevils site.

  1. The minis look great, but I think your photos are not doing them justice. It was only with serious magnification that I realised they were in camouflage! Almost as good as I could have done!!
