Modern Civilians

Modern Civilians

Most of my gaming is solo, and one of my pet gripes is the lack of subtlety in my wargames. What they generally come down to is two armies/groups running across the table at each other and fighting.

I think, therefore, that one of the reasons I gravitate towards skirmish level games is the opportunity to have more elements involved. These provide some randomness, without which I find my games can quickly get boring.

Few things are more unpredictable than people, so I have, over the years, collected and converted a number of modern civilians, for use with zombie, demon and near future post apocalypse type rules. The clothing styles are very much 2000 to nowish, so pushing them too far into the future might not work. Having said that, if Firefly can have people dressed in Western outfits, perhaps the hoodie will still be around in three or four hundred years...

The civilians break down into a few broad groups:

Random people

The vast bulk of the figures are just businessmen/women, people running for the bus or pushing a pram etc. These would be the people to rescue in a zombie game, or who the demons are trying to get to the sacrificial altar in a demon game (and who therefore need rescuing - you see the general scenario idea here).

There are also a few dedicated hostage types.

Specialised people

Ladies

These Ladies of Negotiable Affection were converted from two Foundry Street Violence sets - Fast Lucy's Street Girls and Mistress Trudes Girls. The conversions were mostly just removing arms with guns and sculpting in new unarmed arms :-) I haven't actually found a use for them in a game yet, but I'm sure it's out there.

Looters

I used most of these in a Chaos in Carpathia test game I played over the Christmas break. The scenario called for a mob, and these figures were ideal.

The chap in the middle with his arms behind his back may look like a normal civilian, but he's not...

Looters 3

I've just realised that, while I have plenty of people, I don't have many animals. I'm sure I have a pile of unpainted Irregular ones somewhere, so a rabid dog pack that might be a useful little project for this year.
